Our APPROACH

Surviving is a depressing drag where living gets sucked out of life and our lives become a day-to-day grind of barely getting by.   A life of survival is dull, boring and depressing.

Thriving is about really living.  It’s about embracing our individual challenges and digging deep inside to uncover authenticity and purpose, while embracing and traversing our unique path in life.  To thrive is to truly be alive.

First and foremost, we need to be in the right environment.  We need to feel completely comfortable to express what we are going through without any fear of judgment.  It’s the fertile ground of love and acceptance that brings for the impetus for change, growth, and prosperity.

One of the most difficult challenges we ever face in our lives is crossing the ‘bridge’ of transitioning from youth to young adulthood and the accompanying search for identity, purpose, and meaning that comes with it.

Facing decisions regarding the responsibilities of moving out of your parent’s house, figuring out what you want to do with your life and how you are going to make a living are often compounded by the uncertainty of identity, how to overcome adversity, and the pursuit of happiness.

Furthermore, many of today’s youth have been victims of physical, sexual, or emotional abuse or neglect, or are simply jaded by the hypocrisy of educators “do as I say, not as I do” philosophy has left them jaded to say the least.  Such life experiences can leave deep scars that manifest into loneliness, depression or anger leading to an array of illicit behavior, including drug, alcohol, or sexual addition.

Imagine if there was a better choice for them then the emptiness of clubs, bars or hanging out with the wrong crowds in the wrong places?  Picture a place in our community where they feel comfortable enough to express themselves openly and freely without being judged.   What if there was a warm, positive environment, where our youth could go and have a nice hot kosher meal or experience the joy of Shabbat?  A place where there were guides and mentors they could look up to, who were able to replace the void with purpose, meaning and happiness?  Imagine a place where Jewish youth could learn more about their heritage, identity, and life purpose all while connecting to others their age going through similar life journeys?

We believe that there should be such a place, and that is why we established The Center.
